Here’s a CNN debate about why people do or do not speak English in Florida. Here are two Spanish speakers debating about whether Latinos should speak in Spanish in Miami outside of the home and how it effects our national character.

I don’t see this as a black or white issue. One CAN speak in their native tongue at home and outside of their home AND still learn and speak their target language. Take Montreal for example. People there are mostly totally bilingual.

  1. Indeed, the newer generation will take the normal language as their native and stop using Spanish entirely.

    • I love how you folk know what the future holds. Sure people should speak the common lingo, but the nation has no right to diminish their pride.
